Field Technician
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of 1 year actual field experience in surveying
- Must have clean driving record
- Well-developed understanding of general concepts of residential/commercial survey work
- Working knowledge of relevant technical software, field instrumentation, GPS, and robotic total stations
- Ability to work outdoors, repetitively stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition to ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces
- Ability to make arithmetic computations accurately and record results legibly
- Ability to carry out written and oral directions
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Ability to maintain favorable public relations
- Ability to maintain records, and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work
- Knowledge of or ability to learn mathematics, survey computer programs, and survey computations applicable to the work
- Knowledge of or ability to learn the use of mechanical drawing instruments or survey computer programs
- Knowledge of or ability to learn the symbols of drafting
- Knowledge of or ability to learn surveying instruments and equipment and their use and care
- Knowledge of or ability to learn the principles and practices of land surveying
- Knowledge of or ability to learn state law regarding the establishments of plats, property lines, and survey monuments
- Demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation
- Must have an excellent driving record and valid driver’s license
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of a Professional Surveyor and Mapper, perform land survey field work to determine precise locations and elevations
- Familiarity with subdivision plats, construction plans and RW maps
- Be able to assemble field data, field notes and perform survey calculations, using survey instrumentation and computer programs
- Stake out for Storm Line, Sanitary Sewer Lines, Building/Property Corners, etc
- Willing to advance

Office Technician
Qualifications
- Must have knowledge of and be able to successfully operate AutoCAD in the efficient preparation of digital mapping products that accurately depict the results of all surveys performed (boundary, topographic, construction layout, as-built, quantity, control, special purpose, etc.); Occasional field activities to observe and collect data (measurements and observations) and/or verify previously acquired data may be required from time to time
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience with AutoCAD
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License and have own transportation to and from work
- Field experience working with a survey crew as well as previous experience working as an in-office survey technician
- Must possess the ability to take personal initiative and maintain confidentiality of work assignments
- Ability to read and understand maps, legal descriptions, deeds and construction plans
- Must be a Team player who is self-motivated but can work independently as needed
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task on multiple assigned projects
- Familiarity with the Florida Standards of Practice and the Minimum Standard Detail Requirements for ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys and municipalities requirements

GIS Data Assistant
MSB Surveying, a forward-thinking land surveying company, is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our team as a GIS Data Assistant. This is a unique opportunity to gain foundational GIS skills and hands-on experience related to the fields of surveying and mapping. While we specialize in precision land surveying, we recognize the critical role geospatial graphical data plays. We're looking for someone eager to help and maintain our surveying records through GIS data input and scanning of historical records, field book vertical data, and county-maintained parcel data.
What You'll Learn & Do
As a GIS Data Assistant, you'll be immersed in the fundamentals of geographic information management. Your responsibilities and learning opportunities will include:
- Basic GIS Software Training: Get hands-on experience with industry-standard GIS software (ArcGIS Pro Basic) for data viewing, editing, and management.
- Data Entry: Scanning historical records and inputting corresponding information, MSB surveying records, field book vertical control data, and maintaining current county parcel data.
- Data Quality Control: Learn to identify and correct errors in spatial data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
What We're Looking For:
- While no formal experience is required, some geospatial intelligence and conceptual understanding are essential coupled with a genuine curiosity about maps, data, and technology.
- Some college coursework in geography, geomatics, surveying, environmental science, and/or a related field is a plus but not mandatory.
- Must have a strong attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to visualize and have a broader perspective.
- Must possess the ability to learn to read surveys/maps & retain knowledge.
- Must be proficient in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite & Adobe Pro).
- Must be a proactive and independent learner with critical problem-solving skills.
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
